about

Jewels, gems and precious stones presented by Dawhud & Da Beatminerz.

Produced entirely by Da Beatminerz, "Crown Jewels" is the 2nd act of King David. If D&G's "The Scepter & The Sword" is the rise, "Crown Jewels" is the reign. Comprised of ten tracks, it harkens back to the days of cassette tapes that would have been in heavy walkman rotation while riding the subway. Images of Timbs... hoodies... and the ruff, rugged and raw 90s flavor come to mind while Da Beatminerz paint the sonic backdrop for Dawhud and company.

Originally there were hints at Da Beatminerz involvement when D&G was being recorded, but the closest we got to hearing that was with 4 demos that were featured on the physical cassette of the "Something's Coming" mixtape promo. Of those demos, three of them were remixed in favor of a sonic throughline with a singular producer for "The Scepter & The Sword."

The original versions, along with a few partially finished tracks, were held back to create a Beatminerz produced album as a follow up to the D&G LP. As other projects gained focus with the two artists "Crown Jewels" sat locked away and vaulted like jewelry in a safe deposit box. After a long pause and not wanting the project to never see the light of day, Dawhud picked it up and started reframing it as not necessarily a D&G album, but as the 2nd act in the story of "King David." Taking the partially finished songs, demos and unused beats, he finished the tracks and packaged it as a ten track album.

Now after long last these hidden gems are now available.

Something’s coming…

After the reception of "Battle Anybody" from luminaries like DJ Premier, (#19 on his best of 2013 picks) Dawhud and Ace-One started working on a proper follow up to their emceeing anthem. One track turned into an EP and within a short amount of time, the EP turned into a full length project.

Kings... giants... champions... titans.
